The new year has started at full speed with the talented Monzie joiners, Kenny and Paul, insulating and putting new windows in the upstairs of gorgeous Gardener’s Cottage. This means the cottage is not available to stay in until April but after that you will be able to experience a super cosy cottage whilst enjoying its original charm.
There is plenty of winter availability in East Gatehouse Lodge! The stove we installed lat year has proved to be a complete success and it is a lovely place to relax after a day exploring the hills or the market town of Crieff.
Crieff has a lovely selection of cafes and restaurants as well as lots of independent shops. I recently enjoyed a meal out at Craobh restaurant which is located in James Square, Crieff. It is a cosy setting, tucked away in the corner of the square and lit at night by fairy lights. We were a large group of thirteen hungry diners with varying tastes and some dietary requirements. The staff were incredible, serving our drinks promptly and making a delicious Bloody Mary! We weren’t required to preorder and selected many dishes from the menu including steaks with various sauces and levels of cooking. All the dishes arrived at the same time and were piping hot and delicious. The puddings were sumptuous but I would say the chefs chocolate Pave was the winner with the white chocolate and whisky creme brûlée a close second! (I sampled both but actually had a ginger and lemon tea, which was served loose in a glass pot and was wonderful after my main of seared duck breast!)
So, if you are looking for a tasty and reasonably priced meal in Crieff, Craobh is one of the few establishments to be open every night of the week. Booking advised, as even in January they do get very busy!
